Below you will find answers to practically any question that might arise with respect to setting up and using your portal. Dr. Elias can also help answer questions you may have, by submitting questions to operations@catherinemccarthymd.com.
Hello,
Dr. Catherine McCarthy's new online platform is ready! You will soon receive a separate email from Luminello with a link to activate your portal. The Luminello link will expire in 48 hours (sometimes the link works after 48 hours.) You can request a new link by emailing us at operations@catherinemccarthymd.com.
Activation of your portal is essential to ensure continuity of treatment, so please complete your portal setup as soon as possible.
Your portal must be fully activated before Dr. McCarthy can prescribe or provide treatment.
Here is what we need:
• CREDIT CARD

• Accurate Demographic Information

WRITTEN INSTRUCTIONS

Please note that there are three essential tasks to complete before your portal is fully activated:
1) Link a Credit Card
2) Read and e-sign administrative documents
3) Update demographic information
CREDIT CARD
1. Log into your Luminello account.
You now need to switch to your child’s account to enter your credit card information.
2. On your dashboard, click on the account toggle at the top right
3. Switch to your child's account by selecting your child's name
4. In the dashboard of your child's account, click on "Patient's Billing"
5. Click on the "Add a credit card" link and add your details.
2) Read and e-sign administrative documents
There are 4 documents to read and 3 to sign:

How do I e-sign a document or consent form?
1. Click on the documents tab in your dashboard menu.
2. The documents panel will show the document list.
3. Select the print button to review the document in your browser.
4. Click the e-signature checkbox beside the "I have read and agree to the terms in this document" statement.

A Note About Insurance
As discussed in her Office Policy, Dr. McCarthy does not process insurance claims. Nonetheless, This information will expedite the processing of prior authorization requests for medications, so please complete that section.
A Note About Messaging
Please note that messaging within the portal is not available. Instead, please contact Dr. McCarthy as follows:

All other issues: until the transition is fully complete, patients should call Dr. McCarthy directly at her office number (703-288-3535). This includes issues like scheduling, school forms, letters for college, and, as always, ALL medical clinical matters.
Notes About the Credit Card Billing System

To ensure continuity of treatment, activate your portal as soon as possible. Dr. McCarthy is already using this new billing system and your credit card is required to charge fees directly to your credit card at the time of service. Your active portal is also required for Dr. McCarthy to submit prescriptions.

To complete the transition to the new system, your outstanding balance from the old system must be cleared (note: these balances must still be paid the old-fashioned way, by check). As part of the initial portal set-up, we will send a statement for your outstanding balance to your portal rather than mailing a physical statement. Additionally, to simplify things just this once, although email is not secure like the portal, the billing administrator can also send your balance information via email if you prefer. Just send your request to billing@catherinemccarthymd.com.

Please note: Dr. McCarthy recognizes that the old billing system causes the accrual of outstanding balances through no fault of the patient. Thus, even as the new credit card billing system becomes active, you may receive a statement for past visits under the old system. Please understand that this dual billing situation is only temporary, pending clearance of your outstanding balance.
